Nearly a year ago I shared with you my workaround/fix for the lack of responsive block settings in native block theming. Check it out here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LNP5YJFxs3A Oh, and after promising responsiveness was high on the agenda for upcoming WordPress releases, still no sign or timeframe
Yeah, there’s tons of plugins for block frameworks that all include responsive settings but I simply don’t need all the other stuff they come with – plus I’m a purist and want to use core functionality as much as possible.
So I made a little plugin that simple enqueued some CSS and you can add those classes to any block’s “Additional CSS Classes” box – it works, it still works but you gotta remember the class selector names – no biggie if, like me, you use them alot and they’re fairly ingrained in your memory BUT as you add more and more options to your CSS it can get a bit crazy.`
And I was thinking I’ve got a make plugin that when you start typing into the “Additional CSS Classes” box it pops up with a list of classes to choose from AND GUESS WHAT – it already exists! And it’s mega!
It’s exactly, and I mean exactly what I was imagining, literally the same – so thank you Edi Amin for your awesome “CSS Class Manager” plugin ! Its on the WP repo here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/css-class-manager/
I’m gonna show you how it works PLUS I made a new plugin with a shed load of more responsive classes and helpers so I’ll show you how the new plug works with some real world examples of its use.
So here we go – it’s my all new WordPress Responsive Design for 2025!
