The Server Showdown: Apache vs NGINX
We break down the two big software players. Apache has been the backbone of the web since 1995, but it was built for an era of low traffic. NGINX came along later to specifically solve the problem of servers crashing under heavy loads. Think of Apache as an inefficient waiter waiting for a single meal to cook, whereas NGINX is the master front of house manager handling thousands of orders simultaneously without breaking a sweat.
The Secret Sauce: PHP-FPM
Because NGINX does not speak PHP natively, it needs a translator. Enter PHP-FPM (FastCGI Process Manager). It acts as the kitchen, cooking the raw PHP code and database requests into a finished HTML page in milliseconds before handing it back to NGINX.
