Every so often, something happens in WordPress that isn’t necessarily about new core features, but rather a shift in mindset regarding how the little things make a big difference.
The WordPress admin hasn’t changed much for many years. Outside of Full Site Editing (FSE) and block-based updates, there are a few things that have remained exactly the same. One of those is the list of “Featured” plugins displayed when you go to the “Add New Plugin” tab. Well, this has finally changed โ and it is a very welcome update.
In this video, I’m highlighting one of the most refreshing minor changes that, in my view, is actually huge. It represents a shift in philosophy for what has often felt like a closed system despite being an open-source project. Seeing this small update to something that has been stagnant for years brings a massive smile to my face!
