Oh yes, oh yes indeed! – It’s one of those vids where I sit here in a state of complete joy that something has come along in WordPress that’s so good and so needed it’s like all my Christmas’ and birthdays all at once… A true game changer always puts a huge grin on my face!
Anyways… Bit of context!
One of the biggest shortcomings in WordPress Block Theming is mobile menus – I’ve been saying from day one when FSE was officially brought into Core in January 2022 with the release of 5.9 – that at best they are very limited (that’s me being nice!) – and nothing has changed much with them since then! Which is why, unless I’m building a super simple site, I’ll always use my workaround by using popups as the mobile menu – you can see that video here https://youtu.be/ZIadq-WJVmU
And then there’s the subject of Mega Menus – well, to be fair, in classic WordPress theming, I’ve always used plugins for that – Max Mega Menu being my weapon of choice for a long time, and that works for Block Theming too, though you’re not using blocks to build the menu content, which is a shame – so I had a crack at doing a block-based version which works great, is a little clunky on the interface but does the job as expected – check it out here: https://youtu.be/7ZelI7J_7u0
But hold the front page! We now don’t need my workarounds any more because there’s a fresh new plugin which does it all for you, using the native block editor for content and all the settings are in the Full Site Editor! I literally wet my pants when I saw this about a month ago, as it plugs a huge issue for us block themers.
