How To Use Google Fonts On Your WordPress Website

Google Fonts is simply one of the best free things for Web Designers, period.

And to add Google Fonts to your WordPress website is easy, only takes a few minutes, and can be done with one of the many free plugins on the WordPress Plugin Directory.

I’ve been through nearly all of the Plugins and can say the best in my humble opinion is the Easy Google Fonts plugin – due to it’s easy of use and extended fictionality if you need it – plus it’s settings page is right tin the WordPress Customiser so you can see how your tweaks are looking as you make them! It has the regular settings for the Heading Tags (H1,H2,H3 etc.) and P Tag – but where this plugin comes into it’s own is how you can use it to style other text on your site without any limitations.

So the first part of the WordPress Tutorial is how you style the regular H Tags and the second part we dive deep into styling other and custom classes easily.

The Plugin is on the Repo here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/easy-google-fonts/

The Best WordPress Admin Search Plugin Ever!

Right then, quite simply this is plugin is one of the best things you can do for yourself in the WordPress Admin, and is easily my best WordPress Admin Plugin without a doubt (not including backup and security plugins!).

It’s called Jarvis, and I first discovered it on a post by Sarah Gooding on the the WP Tavern (https://wptavern.com/jarvis-a-free-quicksearch-tool-for-the-wordpress-dashboard). It’s basically a real time Google search for the WordPress Admin – hit your forward slash button, type in a few characters and you’ll get a list of relative “things” in your site you can navigate straight to immediately – love it!

In this WordPress tutorial I’ll show you how to search the WordPress Admin like a boss!

The Plugin cam be found on the WordPress Plugin Directory here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/jarvis/

When you’re doing a load of editing or creating new Posts, Pages or Custom Posts in WordPress it can get a little frustrating having to navigate back and forth to the list of posts to get to the next one. And what if you want to Duplicate a WordPress Post or Page? – it’s not a feature that’s built into WordPress out of the Box.

But there’s a few WordPress Plugins that I can recommend that save me a ton of time and in this Tutorial/Demo I’ll show you how.

This 3 Plugins are on the WordPress Plugin Directory here:

OK – own up – is your WordPress secure, have you got a WordPress Security Plugin installed?

If you’re still reading I’m guessing you haven’t but have no fear in this WordPress Tutorial I’ll show you how to get some essential security installed in 1 minute!

The plugin I use is iThemes Security (formerly Better WP Security) and i don’t think there’s an easier way to secure your site. Of course being iThemes there is a “Pro” version but the free one from the WordPress Repository is just fine for getting some solid security on to your site fast.

The Repo page is here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/
iThemes are here: https://ithemes.com/security/

And you don’t need to be a CSS expert to get stuck in with a bit off custom CSS, in fact there’s a Custom CSS plugin that lets you edit you’re WordPress Site’s CSS in a Visual editor, then adds it to your site – the Plugin is called SiteOrigin CSS and its fab.

Check out this tutorial where I show you how to get some of that good ol’ CSS on to your site.
